On every project, we first define comparable jobs, remuneration components, the data period and the appropriate statistical references.
What are the selected jobs worth on the market?
For one or a few jobs, we prepare an overview of the available market values. This option suits preparing an offer for a candidate, checking an existing salary, or placing a job within a pay grade.
Where do our employees stand relative to the market?
HWP matches the client's data to comparable jobs and compares it against the agreed market. The result shows the positioning relative to P50, P75 or another agreed reference, and explains which components the variances come from.
Do you need data for a precisely defined group of companies or market?
Together we define the companies, jobs, remuneration components and statistics involved. HWP manages the coordination, data collection, verification, processing and aggregated reporting according to agreed rules.
Not sure which option is right? Describe the decision you're preparing, and HWP will suggest a sensible scope. Help me choose →
We include these extensions when they matter to the client's question and the data is methodologically comparable. HWP prepares and analyses the data, job matching, pay structures and differences; the service does not constitute legal advice or a compliance guarantee.
SEE THE RESULT
All displays use fictional data and illustrate the reporting approach.
Percentiles show the market range, not just one "average" salary. P50 is the median: half of the observed values are lower and half are higher. A percentile is not automatically the recommended salary; target positioning depends on the company's strategy, job complexity, internal relativities and the quality of the comparator group.
| Component | P25 | P50 (median) | P75 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Contractual base salary | 2,980 € | 3,600 € | 4,380 € |
| Last fixed salary paid | 3,150 € | 3,720 € | 4,550 € |
| Variable pay, monthly equivalent | 180 € | 360 € | 620 € |
| Allowances, monthly equivalent | 95 € | 120 € | 165 € |
| Total cash payment | 3,425 € | 4,200 € | 5,335 € |
In this demo, variable pay and allowances are converted to an average monthly equivalent. The percentile for total cash payment is illustrative; in the report it is calculated from the distribution of total amounts.
In this example, the total cash amount is only slightly below the median, but the variable component is more markedly below P50, while allowances are above it. The decision is therefore not based on the total amount alone, but on which component the variance comes from.
| Component | Client | Market P50 | Client index | Variance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Contractual base salary | 3,420 € | 3,600 € | 95.0 | −5.0% · below P50 |
| Last fixed salary paid | 3,650 € | 3,720 € | 98.1 | −1.9% · close to P50 |
| Variable pay | 250 € | 360 € | 69.4 | −30.6% · markedly below P50 |
| Allowances | 165 € | 120 € | 137.5 | +37.5% · above P50 |
| Total cash payment | 4,065 € | 4,200 € | 96.8 | −3.2% · slightly below P50 |
Client index = client / market P50 × 100. The variance is not shown by colour alone, but also with a sign and wording.
Total Rewards adds cash payment and agreed benefits together into a single view against Market P50 = 100. The cash value of benefits is included only when the valuation method is agreed and documented.
| Component | Client | Market P50 | Client index | Variance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Total cash payment | 4,065 € | 4,200 € | 96.8 | −3.2% |
| Comparable value of company car | 420 € | 480 € | 87.5 | −12.5% |
| Insurance and pension scheme | 110 € | 130 € | 84.6 | −15.4% |
| Total Rewards under the agreed definition | 4,595 € | 4,810 € | 95.5 | −4.5% |
The total is verified: client 4,065 + 420 + 110 = 4,595; market 4,200 + 480 + 130 = 4,810.
EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND SATISFACTION SURVEY
The core of the questionnaire keeps the key engagement and satisfaction indicators; additional areas, language, segmentations and timeline are set according to the organisation's goal.
Employee engagement is a measure of employees' emotional and motivational connection to their work and the organisation. It is measured through an anonymous survey and reported in aggregate, so that no individual is identifiable.
The goal isn't another set of charts, but a clear answer: what to keep, where to act, and what to monitor going forward.
Confidentiality: Responses are processed confidentially, and results are reported in aggregate under rules agreed in advance. Small groups are merged, or their result is not shown, wherever there would be a risk of identifying an individual.

All displays use fictional data and illustrate the reporting approach.
A quick overview can include engagement, satisfaction, intention to stay and willingness to recommend the employer. The exact set is always agreed with the client.
Results by area show strengths and possible risks. In the illustrative example, collaboration and leadership score better, while development and career, and reward and recognition, have the most room for improvement.
A low score alone doesn't tell you which action will be most linked to engagement. The matrix combines an area's share of favourable responses with an index of its correlation with engagement. This is a correlation, not proven causal impact; the actual analysis depends on the questionnaire, sample and data quality.

WE'VE WORKED WITH
Services and choosing
HWP conducts two studies: (1) salary and remuneration data, and (2) an employee engagement and satisfaction survey. The first is available in three formats (market pricing, company benchmark, bespoke research); the second is tailored to the organisation's goals. Total Rewards, pay transparency, pay grades and pay-gap analysis are specialist extensions of the first study, not standalone services.
For one or a few jobs, market pricing is the right fit. To compare your own data against the relevant market, company benchmarking is the right fit. If you need data for a precisely defined group of companies or market, choose bespoke research. If you're not sure, describe the decision you're preparing and HWP will suggest a sensible scope.
Market pricing answers the question "what is this job worth on the market" and gives percentiles for the range. Benchmarking places your data against an agreed reference (e.g. Market P50) and explains variances by component. Bespoke research means jointly defining the companies, jobs, components and statistics, plus dedicated data collection, verification and aggregated reporting.
Pay methodology
A job is not matched by title alone. HWP takes into account the content of the work, knowledge and skills, responsibilities, organisational level, working conditions and other factors relevant to comparability.
The analysis can cover contractual base salary and the last fixed salary paid, variable payments, allowances, total cash payment, company car, insurance, supplementary pension insurance and, by agreement, share options and other long-term incentives. The final set depends on the availability and comparability of the data.
It's an agreed view of the whole package: cash payments, benefits and, where relevant, long-term incentives. Components are not simply added together; we first agree the period, the valuation method and comparability. The cash value of a benefit is included only under a documented methodology agreed in advance.
Percentiles show the market range, not just one "average" salary. P50 is the median: half of the values are lower and half are higher. A percentile is not automatically the recommended salary; target positioning depends on strategy, job complexity, internal relativities and the quality of the comparator group.
Market P50 is set to 100; the client's index is client / market P50 × 100. A value below 100 means below the median, above 100 means above the median. The decision isn't based on the total amount alone — what matters is which component the variance comes from.
In the proposal and the report, HWP states the data period used, the comparable market and the limitations of the comparison.
Yes. By agreement, the comparison can be extended to selected EU markets where sufficiently comparable data is available for the jobs and components involved. HWP clearly sets out the countries, reference market, data period and limitations.
Pay transparency
HWP helps prepare quality data, job matching, analyses and pay structures for further assessment and reporting. The service is not legal advice and does not guarantee compliance; the client's own responsible function or legal adviser carries out the final legal assessment.
The Directive requires reporting from employers with 100 or more workers, on a phased timeline: 250+ and 150–249 employees first by 7 June 2027; 100–149 employees first by 7 June 2031. Slovenia may set stricter or additional details — check the applicable Slovenian regulation before relying on this.
No. A difference of at least 5% is only one of three conditions for a joint pay assessment under the Directive. The difference must also lack an objective, gender-neutral justification, and remain unaddressed six months after reporting.
Employee engagement and satisfaction
The core retains the key indicators (engagement, overall satisfaction, drivers of the employee experience; by agreement, intention to stay and willingness to recommend the employer). Results by area show strengths and risks, and help set priorities for action.
We adapt the number of questions, additional areas and open questions, sensible segmentations and languages, communication to employees, timing, and the format of the report and presentation.
The matrix combines the share of favourable responses for an area (X-axis) with an index of its correlation with engagement (Y-axis). An area with a low share of favourable responses and high correlation is often a sensible priority. This is a correlation, not proven causal impact; the actual analysis depends on the questionnaire, sample and data quality.
Any time of year. We set the timeline based on the size of the organisation, the scope of the questionnaire, internal events and the desired report date.
Data, confidentiality, delivery
We agree the method of transfer, processing and reporting before starting. We use the minimum necessary scope of data, and report results in aggregate. Small or identifiable groups are merged, or their result is not shown, wherever there is a risk of indirect identification.
The report includes visual results and an interpretation of the key findings. By agreement, HWP presents the results to leadership or the HR team and helps set priority areas.
